PROJECT BASED LEARNING EXPLORATION

On 12th January 2016, my project based learning group (PBL) presented some of the examples that students in government school can do and help to change the community. All of the examples are

Discussion of Problem and Solution
Things that I like the most were culture fading. At the past, during Khmer new year they are playing water and baby powder. The purpose of playing that is to get the happiness. Now during Khmer new year they still playing that, but they play in a bad way like trying to touch other places of the body (cheek, chest, etc). Also now our traditional games don’t have a lot of people playing it. It kinda fading with the elders.

Rube Goldberg
They wanted the government students know how to engineer a new thing and know how to recycle the rubbish that not needed. Rube Goldberg is the one thing that can control other things. Students also can learn about physic and be solving problem.

Science book
Most of the book in Khmer is not about science, so they wanted the kids in high school wright the book about science.
Step how to write the book
pick the topic about science
research the information (asking experts, book, etc)
plant your story
draft your story (does it make sense?)
final draft (give it to the teacher to check)
draw some pictures that make sense with the story
That it!! but it not really easy to do.

History Museum
That is Panharith and I presenting about. We wanted to have a small table in the library that will put the old stuff like, an old map of Cambodia, rock 1000 years old, an old picture of Cambodian famous people, etc. Our purpose is to get the new generation to know some of the histories. If any problem happened students must report to the teacher or the principal.

Community Problems/Solution
This is the last one they found some of the community problems and they try to find the solution to solve it. One of the problems that is my favorite is climate change. Climate change because of the pollution. If the pollution makes the flood, the flood will make the water go into the rice field with the rubbish. It a little bit hard to explain, have a look at the picture.

3D DESIGN

3D design is really interesting for us because it really good for our brain thinking, being ingenuity which is one of our core value. In 3D design we have make vase, chair, cup etc in Blender. Blender is a program that make a 3D things and we all need to be really creative. Last year we have one teacher name Kichong he have a lot of experience about 3D design. He have one small company called ARC Hub which really good. He make a really useful product from 3D design one of the cool thing is the arm for human body, when people broke their arms they can use it. Also when he came and teach us, Kichong want us being creative to make a product to sell from 3D design. In our school find out that 3D design is a good program for us to learn so we have a 3D design Expertise.

English writing

I go to unusual school.  My unusual school is called Liger Learning Center (LLC). This school is in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Our school has 50 students and they come from different provinces. At LLC we are studying two languages and they are Khmer and English. Other than that we are studying about math, STEM, literacy, exploration. Exploration is one thing we focus on. Now my exploration is Bunong, which means I learn about the Bunong people. by going to the Bunong community to ask the Bunong people about their life, culture, farming. In literacy we do reading, writing, listening and speaking. I really love this school because we are studying for free and I can make a lot of friends.

ONE MORNING

One morning I woke up, and to my surprise I dreamed that I saw a big cat fish came and said “hi”. I was really surprised and I said “hello, who are you?”. In five seconds the small octopus replied “I am a student in the Liger Learning Center!”. I replied “I am sorry I am not asking you! I am asking my lovely cat fish” yes I just replied for fun. “what are you doing inside the room?” the small octopus asked. I replied “I playing with my dangerous dog that no one know”. The lovely cat fish swam very fast without small octopus. 15 minutes later there are one big crocodile was asking me about “what is my favorite country?”. I told the crocodile my favorite country was “Laboktertor”. The crocodile told me that on the Earth there are no Laboktertor country. I told the crocodile “is not a country it s a province in USA”. “do you know that I love USA?” crocodile asked.

CHANGING CAMBODIA 2014 – 2015

I was notice need to be changed in my country is no more people throwing the rubbish, no smoke and not cutting down the trees. The solution that I thought about rubbish is we should have a lots of bins in the city and other province. I wanted the people in Cambodia or other countries to stop smoking because it is not good for our health. My solution is I wanted to explain to the seller how bad as secret are one more is making the workshop tell the people in our community to come and explain them. My solution for no more cutting down the trees is, we should find the better and integrity police because police now they just thinking about the money. Teaching the new generation of kids in the schools about the forest in Cambodia, try to grow more trees. During my holiday I talked to my friends about plastics in our community (community in my province (Banteay Meanchey province)). During Khmer new year me and some of my friends are helping each to picking up the rubbish. I also talked to my family and some of relative about the rubbish after that me, my brother, my cousin and my grandmother are helping each other picking up the rubbish around our house and burn it. We burn it because in my community don’t have the truck come and collect the rubbish that why we are burning it.

In Recycled Community Exploration I did my best to teach people in community how to recycle their rubbish.

Ex: We used plastics to make volet, we used recycled paper to make bracelet and we used cardboard to make some things for the kids to play. Recycled Community team showed them how we love and care about the environment in our country. If other people didn’t see what we doing they also check our blog. Recycle Community

My little step are:

I got an idea (Where should I clean or picking up the rubbish) I did create changed Cambodia in this year. My exploration is Recycled Community (RC) we invite people in our community to comes and teach them how to reduce, reuse and recycled (3R) the plastics. I changed Cambodia this years by teaching people how to reduce, reused and recycled their plastics.
